Department of Pharmacology
Dr. P. S. Bafna
Head of Department
Pharmacology as a science is a growing area of pharmaceutical discipline. Scientific communities have witnessed the success of pharmacologically derived therapies in combating the devastating diseases of mankind. The pharmacological research has provided the miraculous cure for the variety of clinical conditions and improved the quality of human life. Therefore, the persons qualified in pharmacology are needed to maintain and advance the pharmaceutical education and research. The department of pharmacology strives to combine the biological, pharmaceutical and medical disciplines to achieve the research and education goal that is hard to accomplish independently. The department offers an opportunity for students and faculty members to study and explore the pharmacological basis of drug actions through the conventional and modern technology.
Alongside the routine curriculum, department is actively involved in the organization of seminars, conferences and camps to understand, current trends in the field and impart social values to the students. Identification of research areas with socially important issues and its management through pharmacological knowledge is one of the initiatives of department. The faculty members are involved to explore the pharmacological potential of various chemical entities in the management of diverse clinical conditions. The major areas of research interest are not limited to but include pharmacological screening of drugs, herbal products and small molecules for anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-cancer, anti-asthmatic, anti-diabetic and cardiovascular activities.
