Guest Lecture of Dr. R. B. Jadhav
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and IQAC Cell had organized an expert talks on “What
matters in bridging the gaps in contemporary higher education” by Dr. R. B. Jadhav Principal &
Professor, SVPM's College of Pharmacy, Malegaon (Bk), Baramati on 21/1/2022 at 10 am through
online mode. The program was chaired by the principal Dr. S. B. Bari sir and event was co-ordinated
by Dr. P. O. Patil Head Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The main intention behind
conducting this online webinar was to make aware students, faculty and principal of various colleges
about the gap and bridging the gap in PCI curriculum. Dr. Jadhav's presentation enlightened the
audience on the role of the statutory body, management, principal, faculty, and students in bridging
the curriculum gap and producing alumni from the institute who will be able to meet all of the
expectations of the pharma fraternity not only in India but also on a global scale.
Some of the best findings of his expert talks are listed below
1. Identification of gaps owing to change in the knowledge, epistemic shift, change in needs.
2. Difficulties in gap analysis a. failure to account the change in time.
3. External (beyond the concern of teacher) as well as internal gaps (concern of teacher).
4. Efforts to bridge the gaps: By organization of syllabus, removal of the vagueness in the same
5. Performance appraisal of the faculty on research and teaching learning scale or both.
6. Various key concepts were simplified by him viz. Backgouund academic planning, teaching
mission, teaching split up (classroom teaching, active learning and self-learning), perception
of teacher.
He has used his own creative thinking to point out all of the issues related to gap analysis and how to
bridge them. Following the lecture, there was a very interactive session in which many audience
members raised various issues, and Dr. Jadhav responded to all of them in a courteous and timely
manner. Dr. P. O. Patil presented him with a vote of thanks at the end of the programme. Total 177
attendees were present for this session.
