Sickle cell awareness and screening camp
A one-day “Sickle cell awareness and screening camp” was organized at H. R. Patel Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in collaboration with National Health Mission, Sickle Cell Department, Cottage Hospital Shirpur dated 15th December 2021, Wednesday.
Dr. Dipak D. Patil, co-ordinator of the program had discussed the origin of the disease, signs, and symptoms observed in person, the distinguishing features between carrier and sufferer patient. He highlighted complete awareness about sickle cell disease. Mr. Hrushiraj Mahajan, co-ordinator sickle cell program, panchayat Samiti, Shirpur talked about different government schemes and benefits available for sickle patients. The screening portfolio was handled by technicians Mr. Pankaj Chavan and Mr. Sunil Pawara.
A total of 137 participants were screened in sickle cell camp. The students from R. C. Patel Institue of Pharmacy, Institute of Management and Research Development, R C Patel ASC, Shirpur were benefited from the camp. The program got valuable guidance from the Principal of the Institute Dr. S. B. Bari; Panchayat Samiti shirpur taluka head Dr. Rajendra Bagul, Cottage hospital head Dr. D. N. Wagh.
The program was anchored by Prof. Rahul tade and management by Prof. D. M. Patil. Mr. Truanl sonawane, Mr. Nilesh Kukade, and all the M. Pharmacy students helped with the successful organization of the event.
